I have fighter specific pilots, who fly nothing but fighters and bomber specific crews, as with bomber crews it is important to make sure your defensive gunnery positions are crewed and manned by experienced crew members. At early levels planes are easy to research and upgrade, what you should concentrate on is getting your crew stats up to maximum and then upgrading that crew to expert (free with xp points) or ace (paid gold lions). I fly predominately realistic air battles with occasional sojourns into tank and naval action, but as an aviator both of these feel slow and cumbersome compared to even the most basic low ranking aircraft. If you like fast and furious action jump into arcade mode, if you like your planes harder to fly try simulator.
